About Us

Founded in 2011, Anjali at Cornell aims to spread awareness of South Asian classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam.  We aim to  perform, promote, and spread the love of South Asian classical dance throughout Cornell.

We have performed at various events across campus, including those hosted by Society for India, the Johnson Museum of Art, the Statler Hotel, and many different international/cultural programming boards. We have also performed off campus at local colleges and elementary schools to conduct workshops and showcases.

Since 2018, when we held our first showcase "Dhyaana", we have held annual showcases where we presented multiple pieces showing our versatility as a classical dance team.

We entered the classical dance competition circuit during the 2019 season - attending Dhirana at the University of Pittsburgh and Mayuri at the University of Maryland. Last year, Anjali re-entered the circuit and competed in UTD Haasini and UMD Mayuri, earning 3rd place at UMD Mayuri! The team returned with lasting memories and a drive to go even further in the future.

We are excited about the future of Anjali at Cornell and are eager to continue sharing this beautiful art form across campus and the US!
